Janie knew it was supposed to storm. Storm of the century, they'd said. Then it downgraded a bit. Then people started saying it wasn't really going to be that bad.
She'd heard something about evacuation and sent Lynn off, just in case. This wasn't something she even bothered checking history about, storms happened. Life happened, and she didn't want to cheat her way through life this time. No,she was almost normal. Janie had a job, an apartment and even a few belongings.
That's why she was asleep in her bed that night. Windows were closed, and she was tangled up in a blanket, trying not to dream her wonderful dreams.
Knock. Knock.
Answer the knock, or keep trying to fight the dream?
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
She sighed, and after not finding her bag or her favorite purple robe, she wrapped herself in her blanket. Who would be at her apartment at that hour? Vito would call first, Phoenix would probably teleport in and whisk her away to a picnic somewhere... Could it be Julian?
She didn't get to think about it much more, because before she knew it her bedroom door was open and her landlord stood in the dark doorway.
Exact words didn't really matter after that, because no matter what was said, just she and her blanket were outside in a matter of seconds. There were words about being evicted, about owing thousands of dollars and needing to pay. Pushing and kicking, and then she was out.
Something told her to get away, as far and quickly as possible which was why she was out in the rain. Except she felt watched, and had a feeling that she shouldn't be outside. So Janie walked in the wind and rain, until she realized she wasn't outside anymore. Without knowing, she teleported somewhere, probably when she'd ducked into a covered place, to keep the rain off of her for a second.
This wasn't Phoenix's building... Phoenix would get pissed off, her old landlord would be dead and someone would get in trouble. Not to Julian's, because he'd tell Phoenix, or he would end up hurt.
Vito's. She knocked, and knocked.
