Giants Sucks

The subject was a tee-shirt that many Redskins fans were wearing at the game yesterday. Spelled exactly like that. My father and I were wearing Giants gear, of course, which led to some razzing from Redskins fans - being a regular fan in the wrong stadiums, I am used to this. Well, one of the fans who started razzing us was wearing such a shirt. The exchange was priceless:

Him: Giants fans, huh? You're in for a long day!
Me: Yeah? Well, your shirt is grammatically incorrect.
Him: Yeah, you're right.

I forgot how stupid Redskins fans are. Some geezer in front of me was commenting with a few minutes left in the first half how the Giants were unable to run against them. "Whaddya mean," I asked in my best New York accent. "Tiki's got 50 yards."

He shrugged and sarcastically said, "Oh, 50 yards is a lot."

"Well, it's not even halftime, pal. That's halfway to a 100 yard day. You think if he gets 100 that we can't run on you?" He didn't answer. He wound up with over a buck twenty. He probably still thinks that we didn't run on them. Idjit.

The game was insane. A 21-3 halftime lead by the G-Men slowly went away. After the Monday debacle, I was in agony the whole time. It was impossible in a stadium seat to curl into a fetal ball, but I did my best approximation, my dad curled next to me (he's a lefty, so we were muched together with pained looks on our face), as the crowd cheered the Skins tying the game up with a FG at the end of regulation.

We were doomed, I thought. Doomed. Tey had all the momentum and our offense didn't score since halftime.

Then a funny thing happened: We won the toss.

And a fun thing happened: We drove down the field with a mixture of passes and rushes and kicked a chipshot FG to win the game and save our season.

And I got to high five Giants fans on the way to the car saying, "Never a doubt" while irritated Redskins fans shot me evil looks.

Exchange in the bathroom:

Some Redskins Fan: We showed a lot of heart out there...
Me: And then we ripped it right out!
Giants Fans In Line: *laughter*
Me: Now you know how we felt last week.
Some Redskins Fan: This wasn't that bad...
Me: Yeah, you're right.

After the game, I went out to eat with my two brothers and my dad. It was nice to hang out with them. I love my family, as insane as they are.

I am still here in DC because I had to write a bio and get it done before the day was through and a drive home would not have allowed that. Now, I'm waiting to do a 5:00 phone interview. When I finish that, I'm grabbing some gas and food and heading out home. I don't know if I'll stop the car and watch the Monday Night game or just try and get it on the car stereo. I'm not due in at work until 1:00, so I should have time to make the trip even with a stop for the game and still get home in plenty of time to sleep a bit before work.

Either way, I'll be driving and very happy that I had a nice weekend with family and football.
