To PA and Back

This weekend was much needed. So glad that Master suggested the long weekend when I initially asked if I could come out some time this summer before I moved. Have three days with her was just the rejuvenation that I needed.

Friday was the drive with a nice split in the middle to have lunch with Amy.

Saturday we got up super early (for a Saturday) to get to NYC. We wanted to get to the AMNH close to when it opened so we could wander the halls before getting lunch. It mostly worked out that way. We met up with Heather, Master's friend from Davis and we basically dicked around the ocean hall until it was our time to go check out the Pterosaur exhibit.

The Pterosaurs (Firefox tags "pterosaur" as being misspelled, but not "pterosaurs" whut?) were fun. I didn't know they could be so derpy. Seriously, the Quetzalcoatlus in the cgi videos they had was SUPER derpy looking. It was the embodiment of someone going "derrrrrr" and another pterosaur had a small flat face that just looked weird. No beak or anything, just a mouth on a round head. I think it's the most science fiction age of dinosaur thing I've ever seen.

Lunch was after that. We found a little Italian restaurant down the street (we were going to go to Shake Shack, but it was SUPER busy). We parted ways with Heather there as she had things to do and I wanted to go back to the museum. Get a chance to check out the meteors and minerals. (There is next to NOTHING Paleozoic in the AMNH, just a small cabinet of trilobites. Which is sad.)

Our next stop was the Brooklyn Bridge. The plan was to walk Manhattan to Brooklyn, chill in the Brooklyn Bridge park for a bit, and finally walk back.

What actually happened was we walked from Manhattan to Brooklyn and got stuck in a cattle run that did nothing but go straight far and far away from the park and once we finally got out of it we just wanted to find a subway to head home. We did stop at a Shake Shack then for a bit of a snack (the caramel shake was DELICIOUS) but then it was on the subway to Penn Station and then the train home.

Sunday we were lazy bums. We played through Octodad in Co-op and then watched bad movies. We shouldn't have started off with Sharknado because other shark movies just paled in comparison to it. The Starving Games was really fun though. We then watched X-men:First Class which turned out to just be prepping ourselves to see X-Men:Days of Future Past on Monday. Ha.

And that as basically all we did on Monday. We ate lunch near the theatre only to have leftovers that couldn't sit in the hot car, so we drove the 20 or so minutes back to her place to stick them in the fridge before going back to the theatre. Haha. It's ok, we originally were going to go to a 1:40 show, but caught the 2:10 instead.

Drive home today and got in just in time for meeting (almost quite literally. I had maybe 10 minutes to spare). After that, I ran to GameStop really quickly to pick up Watch_Dogs and then home (via Chipotle for dinner).

It was so good to see my Molly cat. She yelled at me for maybe the first 10 minutes I was home. She just kept crying and crying and I just kept trying to pet her to make her not mad anymore. I think we're cool now.

Watch_Dogs seems like it's going to be a lot of fun. I only played a little because I'm so tired (Alex decided to scratch on EVERYTHING in my room this morning about 5:30) and want to be able to focus on it better. It seems like a mix between Assassin's Creed (not surprising, same game company) and GTA. But, I've only played one mission, so who knows what the future will bring!

The rest of the evening will be spent watching silly YouTube vids until I deem it's an appropriate time to go to bed.
