The crazy continued

All the crazy of this last week (wedding/interview) you'd think it'd have stopped by the time that Mom got to Columbus, but noooo.

Mom's trip was eventful, she almost couldn't get on her flight from Chicago because they were overbooked. Finally someone gave up their seat (with some incentive of course) and she got on, but it was still an hour late. She felt awful, so not much was done on Thursday. She slept pretty much the entire evening while I went on with life as usual.

Friday I headed for school while Mom chilled at home. Fortunately she felt better and could do more than sleep.

I went in to work and did the usual stuff and as I was waiting for lunch to roll around, I happened to glance at my phone when it was ringing. I don't think I heard the vibration (I keep my phone on silent) but maybe I did. At any rate, the call was from Richmond, IN and I thought "surely not..."

I answered, it was the dean, and he offered me the job! OMG! I accepted immediately. I'm so excited that I have a job for the next three years! And, if I can finagle it, longer ;D

Lunch was a joyous affair, they toasted my good fortune with the water that was waiting on our table.

Bill had already left for the gym when I got the call, so I went and saw him to tell the good news. It was a brief meeting, because my aunt called just as I told him, but once I was off the phone with her, I went back. He's happy and I got all the hugs. He's also really happy that I'm going to be so close. Still easy to collaborate!

I got home to chill for a little bit before Mom and I were off to dinner and a show. We first went to O'Charlies, but the wait was too long, so we headed to Bob Evans instead. Yeah, not the most spectacular place to eat before a show or after receiving good news, but we had good food (though mom didn't like her coconut cream pie :( )

Phantom of the Opera was AMAZING. I only had the vaguest idea of what it was about, having never seen it in any form and not really knowing the music. But the production value...WOW. The sets were WSM. I couldn't imagine having to take those down and move to the next city once the run in the first was up. The actors were really good, beautiful voices. Just...wow.

Saturday we waited long enough to run to Macy's to get wedding gifts for Seth and Laura before heading home. Drive was long, Molly wasn't happy, but all was good. Dad even ordered me Hawaiian pizza for dinner NOM NOM NOM.

Today was the reception for Seth and Laura. Always good to see them. Got to see a lot of other people too, most of whom I didn't know, even though Mom's tennis friends said they had met me before (if briefly). Sure...ok. Otherwise, just been bummy.

It's been a good few days :D
