Well I meant to write more this year so I'd be able to look back on my "going back to school" years. Ah well. I'm really happy that 2006 is about to be over. It was a pretty crappy year...or at least most of the last part of it was pretty crappy. My spring semester was great but when I came back for the fall I just couldn't seem to get myself together. I finished the semester with a ho-hum grade of a B & a C. That is my first C since coming back to school last year and just further gave me reason to be dissapointed in myself.
The beginning of the year was great...my first college night back was a winning year and it was so awesome to be on that stage after all the hard work and WIN! HELL YEAH! The next month I got to go home to NYC for the first time in ages and see all my friends and my favorite city in the world!!!
It feels weird being in Bama because I don't do as many things as I did in the city. I don't get to see any shows unless they are on tv or something that the theater dept. does. I don't really see that many movies either. I did see a few great ones this year though: The Queen, Little Miss Sunshine, Dreamgirls. Not nearly as many as I'd see in probably a month of time back home. But I'm also a hell of a lot poorer here too so it's all good.
Another bright spot in the year was getting to be there for the wedding of one of my close friends Kerry to her husband Mike. The funny thing about the marriage is I was with Kerry when she met Mike at Moe's Carribean one late LATE Dec. night in 2002...we had already been to one bar before that (our reg. spot) when we hit up Moe's. I was with Kerry and another girl from TJ's (our reg. bar) and of course I was the only one who ended up without a date or boy at the end of the night....my life story! :) Anyway, it was so cool to be there at the beginning and at the wedding too. It was glorious!
The year was crappy because I lost a really great friend. In July my friend Andy took his own life and I still struggle sometimes with it all. It's just so hard to grasp why sometimes and I miss him more everyday. I truly love him and wish that things could be different. That is why I'm happy that the year is over. It doesn't change things but at least the new year has new things in it...be they good or bad.
I only have a few resolutions this year:
1. Lose 50 pounds. My goodness what a fat ass I've become. I've just let myself get so lazy and just eat crap food (not that the caf really helps with that). I need to be more healthy and I need to not hate looking at myself everytime I catch a glimpse.
2. Make better grades! With my B & C I'm now on academic probation. Yeah...you have to have a 3.0 and I have 2.75 so I've got to work that and get it back into B status. Only 3 more semesters left and I can kiss this town and state GOODBYE!!! I am proud that I passed the MAT though! YAY!!!
3. Try to stay in better contact with friends. School really does take so much time out of the day that I forget to talk to my friends back home, far away and sometimes even those in AL.
4. Travel a bit more. I only made it to NYC & Ashville, NC last year...not really travel crazy. This year I hope to make it to at least one other place!
Okay, I'm off to a New Year's Eve party. It's crazy foggy outside so I'll have to drive slow. I hope and wish you all the very best for the New Year!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!
