WOW! I just don't know what to say. Last night was
beautiful...sick to your stomach beautiful. First off yesterday
was long but great. It started at 6:30 with a call from my
mom. My great aunt passed away on Thurs. but my mom was getting
flowers and wanted my opinion. Hm...at 6:30 I'm not too good with
opinions. My Aunt Inez was a great woman...I love her and miss
her but am grateful that she isn't sick anymore. I am not going
to the funeral today due to the weather, I can't get stuck in Fort
Payne because of weather but they didn't want me to try and go up there.
After my mom called I got about two more hours of sleep and had to get
ready for Purple Day. I left here about 9:15 going to
Calera. I drove on the country road there instead of the
interstate. As I was driving I saw this huge thing coming off
this hill on my right side. I break just enough for this massive
dear to run right in front of my car....I just barely missed him.
I then looked in my rear-view mirror and 4 more darted right behind my
car. My heart was beating so fast. If I'd have been a
second later my car would have been damaged pretty badly. I know
it's all a part of driving in the country but still scary too!
I picked up the rest of the stuff for the Vintage Purple party and got
back to pick up Kat who was staying with me (she's an old Purple too)
and then we got all the party stuff together and went to Richard's to
get it together. The cake turned out so nice and I'll post a pic
of it later if any of you are interested. There was a good
turnout for the party...not like the old days but still nice.
After that was the basketball game...too bad it wasn't a purple win for
that but it was only an 11 point diff. in the end. I then went to
the DULL Young Alumni event. Mainly because Andy Jordan was here
though I didn't know he was coming. He payed my way in because
I'm poor as dirt at the moment. Wine & Hot Dogs....TACKY!!!!
Got back and got ready for the big night. I had bought a black
halter dress at Macy's. It was nice...not great because I hate
the way I look right now but still a nice dressy dress. My shoes
were great too...even if they'd kill me by the end of the night.
Our circle went all around the auditorium and down the middle aisle
too! Purple for life is NOT a fairy tale :). Then it was
show time. I was so excited to hear the audience cheering and
just loving our show. After the show there was about a 20 minute
break before calling up cabinet and cast for both shows. Then
there was about a 5 minute break and then...D DAY. That girl was
driving me crazy. Richard Wright who was my Alumni Cabinet guy
just wouldn't smile. We were down point wise and he was just
feeling that pressure that it was over. When they announced
pre-production points we were down 45.5 points!!! I was so
scared...I started crying and praying at the same time. I just
couldn't see that wonderful show losing to such a simple blah
show. Then she said it "DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD"! She
barely got out Ding Dong before the Purples exploded with crying,
cheers, just jubilation. It was such an amazing feeling. I
know it's hard for those who don't understand College Night but that
feeling when they say your phrase after all that work....just pure
bliss! I didn't even feel the pain in my feet anymore. We
were all hugging and screaming and just celebrating. The side
song that time was just joyous too.
I'm way too old I think. The afterparty at Double Play was fun
but I just didn't stay too long. Everyone was having a great time
and it was so hot and smokey in there I just didn't feel good.
I LOVE YOU PURPLES!!! PV FOREVER!!!!!
