(no subject)
Summer vacation~ I find myself with like... nothing to do, haha. BUT LOTS TO EAT~ GONNA GET FAT THIS SUMMER
But I got to go to Seattle twice in a row last weekend, once just with Sandra and her mom, and once (also with Sandra, though at this point it's just a given) to meet up with phenphenny who was in Washington for a bit. The crepe place we wanted to go to has moved to Southcenter (;____; it was so good!) so we went to try out a bubble tea place we had seen once when wandering around the international district. Sandra and I have been on a hunt for good milk tea since we got home, because we had gotten addicted to it in the last few weeks of the school year after finding two really good places, both kind of far from our dorm. We'd tried the bubble tea place right across from Uwajimaya, and mine was fine (after realizing every bubble tea place in Washington overflavors their drinks, I've just been getting normal milk tea, which is hard to mess up really) but Sandra's was sub-par. The other place we ended up going to with Phen, called Gossip, was really good~! I don't know if it's because mine was extra-good or because I was hungry, but I finished the whole thing. They didn't have a small size, just a big size that was probably a good 24oz, so that means something that I finished it. Sandra was mostly excited to find they had oolong milk tea, her favorite. Phen got a strawberry one (apparently strawberry is also a hard-to-find flavor!), making hers the cutest because it was bright pink. :D Meeting up with her was a lot of fun! Phen, if you're ever in Washington/New York again, let's meet up again! We know even better places to shop/eat in NY :D
Also, we bought Red Dead Redemption! Even better, my brother bought Red Dead Redemption and saved us the trouble (WE ARE BROKE HA HA HA). That night, Sandra and I were up until 4:30 am playing it, and we played it more the next day. Then last night after she'd gone home, I decided to try out the Xbox Live multiplayer. I don't have Xbox Live on my profile, so I went on my brother's.
Let me just say, when I read webcomics that talk about how hard it is to be a woman in like, an MMORPG, I think they're exaggerating. I played as a female night elf in WoW, the skankiest-looking race with a stripper dance emote, and I remember maybe one person, ever, coming on to me? Hell, Sandra and I ran around the forest doing a mock-porno "photoshoot" with our night elves and even then some dude just gave us a weird look and kept walking.
But after playing Xbox Live for a few hours, I UNDERSTAND . I didn't have the microphone plugged in at first, but then it was hard to talk to the posse I was invited into. My character was a boy (I didn't know how to change it yet, and I thought his bowler hat was pretty sweet anyway) and so they didn't realize I was a girl until I plugged in the headset after getting my horse stuck on a fence and having no way of telling them to come back (and get me a new horse).
"Wait, Cat ((my brother's username starts with cat)), what is your real name?" Apparently this is a subtle way of figuring out if I'm a girl
"Uh... Kate"
"So... you're a girl?"
"Yep"
"A girl plays this game?!"
"Yep"
"You're awesome!"
a few seconds pass, we shoot bandits
"Are you hot?"
That was the 13-year-old, and you'd think he'd be the only one doing stuff like that, but some other guy (whose age I don't know, but he sounded older than 13 at least) was just as bad. But oh well, I got some decent experience and aside from all that they were fun. At one point, they found one of the taxi-carriages (they hold 6 people, the size of our posse) and we all piled in and drove it around, whistling for our horses. So it was this horse-drawn carriage full of people with like 6 horses running along behind it. We also did some drive-by shootings, killing some of the guys in other posses on our map. It was pretty sweet, until the person driving (I think we let the 13-year-old drive) drove us off a cliff and flipped our carriage.
Anyway, I'm probably going to play some more RDR. I was playing singleplayer before multiplayer and I wasn't very good at shooting, but maybe all that multiplayer has improved my aim (learning how to take cover can't hurt).
