Sandra is writing in her LiveJournal so I'll write in mine. I imagine that since she actually had the idea of writing in her LJ and I am just doing it because it sounds interesting, her entry is going to be more informative and interesting than mine.
It would be pretty cool to get back into the habit of using LiveJournal, I suppose, and a convenient way to keep up on what my friends are doing. Unfortunately, as you can easily tell by reading my old entries, I'm a lazy fuck and I am incapable of sustaining habits. I have a small folder on my favorites bar that is a short list of the only websites that can consistently keep me amused, and some of them I'm kind of bored of anyway.
Uhhh, my life! School is killing me lately, but it's somewhat my fault because I entered a contest and got in. (Yay!) The contest is for the fashion show at "FIT's Far Out Festival," which is a little block party thing they're going to have on Saturday. Not anything big and exciting, but it's a '60s theme fashion contest. I think they were going for a Woodstock/hippie thing, but they said '60s theme on the flyer and really, hippies were mostly '70s, and Woodstock was in 1969. The '60s included the mod movement, which is one of my absolute favorite fashion movements of all time. SO I did not pass up the opportunity to enter a mod design, and got in! :D Which means I make the outfit and then there will be a fashion show on Saturday. The entering/being accepted thing all happened around April 7th, and the finished garment was due today. Or rather, garments, in my case, since I did a dress and a raincoat...poncho...thing.
Anyway, the prize is $500 and while I don't want to get my hopes up, that would be enough to cover air fare to Anime Expo... and since Sandra's sister's wedding is falling on Anime Evolution, it's my only opportunity to go to a convention over the summer. It would really be a pity to not be able to go to a convention during my only real opportunity to work on costumes in months. Then again, not going doesn't mean I can't make costumes! I'd love to have costumes that I like wearing for future cons - since I didn't take cosplay very seriously before hearing Scout's ridiculous perfectionist ramblings, my old costumes are pretty terrible. This means my only decent costume is my Viera WHM, and really it's so much trouble to wear that costume because of the super-long hair. I'd like to have easy-to-wear costumes like Yorda or Hiccup that I could fall back on if something doesn't get finished, or if future costumes are also difficult to wear. At Katsucon, I had to choose between walking around in street clothes and walking around in a five-foot-long wig with foot-tall rabbit ears. I'd like to have a bit more choice than that - for instance, I really really really want to cosplay Umineko no Naku Koro ni, but the costume I want to make would probably not be super comfortable, so I probably wouldn't want to wear it all three days - so I'd like to have comfy costumes! For this reason I super duper want to make this:
Specifically, Sebastian. Unfortunately, that necklace he wears is ridiculously overpriced everywhere I go. Even the cheap crappy little vendors that charge $9 for every necklace charge $60 for that one. It's a mystery, and until I can find an affordable one that costume is going to be put on hold.
JESUS CHRIST THIS IS SUCH A LONG POST ABOUT SHIT NOBODY CARES ABOUT
Oh PS sandra is my model for the 60's show and she's adorable
EDIT: Oh I should probably talk about this too
I entered Tokyo Rebel's fashion contest, and made it as a finalist in the Punk category! The results are announced tomorrow AHHHHHHH :O Akira (AS IN FUCKING AKIRA ONE OF MY FAVORITE KERA MODELS HNGGGHHH) had some nice things to say about my photo~
AKIRA SAYS: アー写みたい!って思いました。 帽子から足下までのコーデがカジュアル
なのに凄くバランスがよくて、ボーイッシュな女の子がデートの時とかいいんじ ゃないかな?なんてお気に入りです。
In English: I thought this was an artist's picture. From head to toe, the coordinate looks very casual but well balanced. Somebody who is boyish can look like this when they have a date.
She said so much about mine (compared to some of her other comments) that I feel like she really liked it~ maybe that's just wishful thinking, but I suppose she liked it enough to choose it as one of the finalists! The final decision is up to Tokyo Rebel. OH THE SUSPENSE
ok bros thats all for real now
