I kind of feel like I ought to post this here, if for no other reason, to give me a timeline when I look back on entries.
Yesterday morning, my dad had symptoms of kidney stones. So my mom took him into the hospital, while I went off to do some volunteer work. Around 11-ish, I heard he was doing okay because they'd given him pain medicine. I didn't hear anything more until I got home from work at 8 pm. My mom told me we were going to the hospital to visit him.
It turned out, they'd done a CAT scan to check the size of the kidney stone, and if there were any others - but they didn't find any kidney stones. Instead, they found a growth on one of his kidneys. They said it was probably cancer. We went in to visit him, bring him some pajamas and his laptop and things like that. Then we went to dinner.
My mom got a phone call from my dad. Basically, they've also found a few infected lymph nodes around the kidney. They're going to assume it is cancer, because it probably is. On Wednesday, he's going into surgery to have part or all of the kidney removed, as well as those lymph nodes.
