ANGERME 15/11/11 new single, "Desugita Kui wa Utarenai / Dondengaeshi / Watashi" review

Nov 15, 2015 15:31

A few day passed since ANGERME 20th single (3rd under their current name and formation). The single sold not really well in my opinion, but ranked 2nd on the Oricon chart in their first day of sale, that is not that bad. As now, they sold a total of 32'000 copies (more or less), that is a quite good result.

But now, let's talk about the single. Hello! Project is just pushing this group in the front, and in the right way. This is the 3rd single in a row that I really liked a lot (I'm counting only ANGERME single, obviously), even though there isn't really a single of this group I dislike, but this is the one that ranked lowest of the last three.

Now I will try to do a different type of revision: I'll do one for the songs, one for the covers, one for the costumes and last, but not least, one for the MVs.

SONGS
"Desugita Kui wa Utarenai" is for sure my favourite out of the three. I really like the ryhtm, plus it was arranged/composed by Lovendor's Uozomi Yuki (pardon for the name romanization), my favourite member of the band. The lyrics are really meaningful, and the fact that ANGERME tried this new heavy metal style really pleased me. Really a good song.

"Dondengaeshi" is the type of song you'll listen to when you have a bad period in your life, the contrast between the calm of the stanzas compared to the beat of the refrains is really something special, really beautiful. Also, the lyrics are really, really meaningful and beautiful.

One thing I have to say about these two songs is... Kana. My god, Kana is really shining in this single, finally. She has such a wonderful voice, like the other members of course, but I'm really happy she's gaining more attention and more solo lines, because she really deserves it.

"Watashi", the last song of the single, is Fukuda graduation song; it was writtend by herself, as you can see (hear...pardon). The rythm, the music, the lyrics...is Maro in a song, it's just perfect for her. This is probably the song I like the less out of the three, simply because it's not that catchy for me, but I really appreciate the fact that the goal was to represent Maro, and they got it, seriously.

MVs

"Desugita Kui wa Utarenai" MV is just really beautiful. They used the costumes for the MV making really well, I love when they turn off the lights and BOOM, the outfits shines in the dark (yep, I'm mad for this type of outfits). Just, wow. The dance is something .... I really like it. Such a good coreography, well done!

"Dondengaeshi" MV is just perfect, my favourite out of the three. They used a simple location, and added a lot of wonderful editing effects, that I really like and make the video wonderfule. The coreography is beautiful too, I really really like it.

"Watashi" MV is simple, but in his simplicity it's perfect for Maro. It represent her story as idol, in particular the Cinderella shoe thing at the very beginning, and this is, in my opinion, the best thing of the video. Another scene I really love is Maro writing the lyrics of her song. Her idol career begins with the Cinderella shoe and finishes with her song, just....I wanna cry.
The location is fantastic, it matches the song and his style, and Maro really shines int it.

COSTUMES

First of all, I'll talk about "Desugita Kui wa Utarenai" costumes, that are also my favourites. They're really cool, I like how they were designed and how their logo was put it on them. But I will add some comments about those costumeswhen talking about the MV, where they really shines.

"Dondengaeshi" costumes are really pretty, I love the gradations of blue they used on them, and all the girls look really pretty with them. I hope to see a lot fo costumes like these in the future.

"Watashi" outfit....I don't really have nothing to say...To be honest, I don't really like the "main outfit", but I love the blue one with the star pattern. But I can say that those outfits really match Maro style, so I'm happy they chose them for the song.

COVERS

(Ltd A - B - C)

(Regular A - B - C)
ANGERME are taking a personal style for their covers, that I really like. This time, my favourite for all editions are the regular ones. Even though I don't really get the meaning of using both japanese (in kanji and romaji) and english titles...but I don't really care that much.

The covers are really beautiful, the ones that I don't like the most are probably the regular and limited C, just because....I though something different for Maro covers, but they are still really pretty.

───────────────────────────────────
All things considered, this is a really gooooooood single. Every song is studied, no, every single thing seems studied sooooooo well and it turned out a single that really rocks. I'm a little upset about the sales, but hey, if the sales are low, it doesn't mean that a single sucks. I believe that true fan are supporting the girls, no matter what.

I'm hoping the best for the group after Maro graduation. Ganbatte ANGERME!

For today, that's all. I'll make soon a post about the news about Hello! Project, like new members and incoming graduations, so stay tuned! I'll leave you with a cute Maro! <3
