TITLE: #14 - Don't Leave
BY: himekohimura
CHARACTERS INVOLVED: Takizawa Hideaki and Doumoto Kouichi.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: A belated birthday/chirstmas/New Years to Kou-chan, because I missed all three being busy with Japan and school *sadsad* Broke my own heart writing this, srsly.

Kouichi didn't understand. Didn't understand why Takizawa didn't tell him. Didn't even mention it once even though he'd been in and out of the younger's office every day.

He did understand why. It had to be because of him. Because he wasn't able to give Takizawa what he wanted, even though the other had given him all of this.

But he didn't want Takizawa to leave. He was Kouichi's first friend. First real friend in a world where friendship and love were shaded grey.

"Kinoshita-san!" the woman turned, her business-like manner softening when she realized who was calling for her,

"Kouichi-kun." She waited until the other had caught up before speaking again. "I assume you heard?"

"Is he really leaving?" Kouichi asked.

"He's packing right now." Kinoshita herself seemed conflicted, something that Kouichi found out rarely happened in the confident secretary. "It's sudden, for him to leave so soon after coming back here."

"I'm sorry..." Kouichi bit his lower lip as he bowed his head quickly. "It's all my fault that he's leaving."

"I doubt that it's your fault, Kouichi-kun." Kinoshita reassured him. "He's been overworked since he got here. Going away for a bit might do him justice."

"But he wouldn't be leaving at all if it weren't for me."

"Don't think that way," Kinoshita scolded him. "He'd have left sooner or later. Besides, don't you think you should say good-bye? He's in his office."

Kouichi's head shot up and Kinoshita smiled. "Hurry. His flight leaves tonight."

The door to his office flew open and he looked up from his packing to see Kouichi barge in looking as if he had ran a few flights of stairs.

"Kouichi-kun, are you alright?" Takizawa questioned, but never got his answer as a rather angry looking Kouichi started talking.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Kouichi looked as if he were about to cry. And he did, after he started ranting. "Why didn't you tell me you were leaving? I thought we were friends? Was I wrong? Were you just going to leave without telling me?"

"I was going down to the offices to see you after I packed away the rest of my things," Takizawa's face remained expressionless against Kouichi's tears. He already knew this was going to happen. "But I guess that's unnecessary now."

He watched the disbelief in Kouichi's eyes fade into more anger. "Fine. Fine! Just leave! I don't care!" Kouichi crossed his arms and turned his back to Takizawa, his shoulder trembling with suppressed tears.

He could hear Takizawa's sigh and the rustling of papers as the other continued to pack, ignoring Kouichi's obvious presence. He turned his head around to glance at Takizawa, a bit irritated that Takizawa diverted his attentions from Kouichi so easily."Are you really leaving?" Kouichi asked in a small voice as he watched the other put away the last of his things.

"Would you rather me stay?" Takizawa looked up at Kouichi, eyes serious and mouth set in a firm line. Kouichi found himself lost for words. Yes, he did want Takizawa to stay. But wouldn't it be horribly selfish of him to ask Takizawa to?

Kouichi's shoulders slumped forward in resignation and he sighed. "Would you stay if I asked?"

"I'd do anything you asked." Kouichi's surprised eyes met Takizawa's for an instant and Kouichi saw the conviction and truth of those words. It scared Kouichi and the older looked away. Such devotion and love...Kouichi didn't deserve it.

"Takizawa, I..." Kouichi felt the tears start to come again and he willed them away. "I..."

The arms around him were sudden and strong and Kouichi found all his control lost as tears fell down his cheeks in a cascading river. He sobbed into those arms that he wouldn't be able to feel ever again, clinging to the shirt and scent of the man that had given him everything and he had given nothing. He would not ask Takizawa to stay, even as his heart pounded a steady beat in his head, urging the words 'Don't leave' to exit his mouth. Two words, it said whispered to him like the sound of drums. Two words and Takizawa would stay forever.

"Taki--" Lips found his mouth and the phrase was lost in a breath-taking kiss, one that consumed Kouichi with heat and passion and endless affection. When they broke, Kouichi was gasping for air, eyes wet and wide as he realized what the kiss was.

It was their last.

"Good-bye, Kouichi."

I love you.
