Everything was fine in Choi Shiwon's life until Kim Kibum came along.

Kibum was almost as smart as Shiwon and was nominated Secretary as soon as he put his foot on campus and accepted the job graciously, much to Shiwon's dismay.

Kibum was the complete opposite of Ryeowook, his Vice President. Objective, pertinacious, contumacious, fractious--in short, everything that Choi Shiwon detested.

But Shiwon had known that from the first time Kibum stepped into the coucil room for his interview. Because Kim Kibum and Choi Shiwon had known each other for years. They had grown up together, a fact that Shiwon made sure never got out to the public. No one needed to know unnecessary things, lest they think that Kibum had only been allowed onto the council because of it.

Shiwon had always been a stick-in-the-mud, as Kibum would put it. And Kibum had always been a pain-in-the-rear, according to Shiwon. And as much as Shiwon tried to resist it, the two of them had slipped easily back into their old ways of bickering and snarking, much to the surprise of the student body. They had come to fear Shiwon, with his psychic ability to throw lighting at them, and yet Kibum never suffered even a crackle of air.

There were instant rumors, of course. That Shiwon was afraid of Kibum, or that Kibum had some kind of psychic ability to ward off Shiwon's own. The most prominent of the rumors, however, was the one of them being lovers. Which was just pure insanity, in Shiwon's opinion.

"Shiwon-ah." Shiwon bit his lip as he looked up from his homework to glare at his friend. "I think Ryeowook likes you."

"Stop talking nonsense and finish your Biology homework, Kibum-ah." Shiwon turned back to writing, clearly disinterested in the topic even as his heart did a curious little flip.

"Well, I think he does." Shiwon sighed and put his pen down. Apparently he wasn't going to get any kind of silence until he heard Kibum out. "He's always by you, no matter what."

"That's what Vice Presidents are supposed to do." Shiwon rolled his eyes. "Ryeowook is just doing his job."

"Doing his job like a stalker." Kibum snorted. "Don't you think you should discourage him? I mean, that's if you don't like him in return."

"Don't be ridiculous." Shiwon picked up his pen again, writing out his answers with precise letters and ignoring that knowing smile on Kibum's face. "If we're going to talk about crushes, maybe you should try and face up to yours."

There was a long pause and Shiwon didn't have to look up from his paper to know that Kibum had just turned beet red. There were other things that made Kibum worth having around. "I don't know what you're talking about." Kibum muttered and Shiwon heard a pencil being picked up and Shiwon smiled inwardly, knowing he'd won that round.

But from then on, Shiwon started to pay attention.

Kim Ryeowook was the model Vice President. He did everything that Shiwon asked of him and more, including going out of his way to make sure that even Shiwon's personal needs were taken cared of. It was unnerving at first, to have someone so loyal and so...well...stalker-ish as Kibum had so articulately put it. But as time went by, Shiwon became used to it and almost expected it. He expected a bottle of coke to be put in his hand as soon as he coughed. He expected a lunch sitting in front of him as soon as he sat down in his corner of the cafeteria. He expected everything to be cleaned beforehand and a guard during his study times. It became so bad that when he went home, he almost missed the constant presence, not to mention the attention.

It wasn't until he caught some of the second year boys picking on Ryeowook that he realized how fond he was of the boy. (Kibum would call it love and Shiwon would feel like throwing said Kibum out the window with his powers for even thinking that.)

"P-President?" Ryeowook stuttered, obviously shaken up by the attack. Ryeowook's glasses had been thrown across the hall and the boy blinked owlishly up at him, unable to see. But Shiwon could see and he wondered why on earth the boy wore glasses when he looked so breathtaking without them. His hair had been mused and the strands fell over his face, giving it a more innocent look and Shiwon had to hold back the urge to brush them away.

"I-I'm sorry. I s-should have known better. Those-Those punks..." Ryeowook looked desperately around for his glasses. Shiwon bent down and picked them up, tapping Ryeowook's shoulder with them and he watched Ryeowook's face turn a pretty shade of pink.

After the incident, Shiwon found that the little heart flip had turned into a nasty little feeling that seemed to bubble up out of nowhere when Ryeowook was around and an even more unpleasant feeling reared it's ugly head when some of the council girls got too close to Ryeowook and a spark of electricity would snap in the air. He knew what it was--he didn't have a high IQ for nothing--but admitting it to himself was much harder to do than just knowing it.

Kibum told him that he only electrocuted Ryeowook because he was filled with sexual tension. Shiwon told Kibum he should speak for himself. Because he wasn't the one glancing back every few minutes at a sleeping Lee Donghae when the teacher was speaking. At least Shiwon could keep his eyes to himself.

He wasn't surprised when Kibum came to him halfway through the school year to tell him that he was quiting, and he made good use of the opportunity to check one more thing off of his list of 'irritating things.' "I'll let you quit under one condition," Shiwon said when Kibum turned in his letter of resignation. "That you stop beating around the bush and just tell him that you like him."

Kibum glared at him. "Bite me."

Shiwon chuckled, a rarity for anyone else but Kibum. "Don't be so vulgar. It's a simple task, don't you think? Three words and you'll be happy for the rest of your life."

"If it's such a simple task, then why don't you tell Ryeowook how you feel?"

Touche. "Because there is nothing to tell." Shiwon turned away from Kibum and started to file away papers into his folder. "Now leave before I have Ryeowook shove you out."

"Oh, now I'm scared." Kibum rolled his eyes. There was a crackling of air and Kibum blinked--it was the first time Shiwon had ever done that with him around--and then smiled as if he knew something that Shiwon did not. Shiwon hated that smile. "Okay, okay. I'm going."

Shiwon sighed when the door finally closed.

Yes, his life was so much better without Kibum around.
