So I've been working part-time (20 hours a week) at the hospital down the street. It's only a ~12 minute walk from home to the hospital, so no more coughing up money for MetroCards to take the bus. I graduated on May 22; my grandmother, that cousin S I mention every now and then and his mother (my aunt) attended, along with my mother and sister (although she's an idiot female dog and would rather work than attend my graduation until my mother practically begged her to attend).
I've been working at the hospital for a month now (my first day was August 3). No, don't worry, I'm not dealing with patients (I'd frigging kill somebody, lol). I do web development work there for the Publications department. For those mildly curious, I work here:
http://sbhny.org So it's my job to help set up the various sections for each department on that site. So yeah, if you see all the pages for various residency programs (for the medical students) for things like Dentistry, Emergency Medicine and various other sections, plus the Event Calendar, that's all me who did that. The Emergency Medicine Residency and Surgical Residency section was a pain in the butt to do, but it's finally done. =__= *siiiiigh* And I hope to not have to touch them ever again. I got to look at a surprise!x-ray of some teenage dude's peepee while I was at it too, lol. I didn't know it was going to be there! I would have braced myself! So lol, now I know that I should mentally prepare myself for seeing unexpected images now.
I work from 9AM to 2PM, Mondays through Thursday. Hopefully by next year some time, they'll employ me full time. @__@ I need the moneyyyy... But for those interested, I make $15/hr. This is the most I've ever been paid in my life, so even though it's part-time, it's a wonderful step up from $9.10 an hour! I can't spend it as I like though, since they're going to start billing me for student loans come November/December... *depressed* And yeah, attending a might-as-well-be-Ivy-League-why-don't-they-just-apply-already university = $22,000 in student loans. I'm so frigging depressed. The thought that I owe somebody that much frigging money is so disheartening. Yeah, so these people need to hire me full time as soon as possible please. Since I don't want to be sitting here, 10 years later, and STILL owe that money.
My mother wants me to go to graduate school. Man, I'm just glad I got through college. We don't have the money for graduate school, and I frigging hated school from the first day of 1st grade. If I never hear about school again, it'd be too soon.
Uwaa, I'm thinking about making my LJ public again. I made it 99% Friends Only to begin with because of some stupid childish drama I had with people a year ago. I figured if people were going speak ill of me and continue to stalk my LJ like they actually care about what's going on in my life (that's just so two-faced to me...), they didn't really deserve to keep up with me or know anything about me. Well, since it's been over a year and I think it's safe to come out of hiding now (I think I've been largely forgotten about now). So I think posts from now on will be public (like I always wanted them to be).
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm probably going to do a clean up of my friends list one of these days, so if you think you're in danger of being removed and don't want to be removed or something, please let me know. |D;; Or... if you find that I've removed you and you want to be added back, yes, let me know that too!! :)
