Of course, he could dodge it easily, but this is an opportunity too good to pass up. Instead of dodging, he turns towards the ball, and lets it bounce harmlessly off the metal plate of his forehead protector and catches it.
See? That's why they're called forehead protectors.

[ Casey uses Sports Nut! ] See, usually you got all your players on the same course- there are eighteen holes and you're supposed to get the ball into 'em without havin' to hit it too many times. And so it ain't too easy, there are obstacles set up on the way. Sand pits, rough patches, water, that kind of thing.

... Baseball and soccer are a lot easier to understand. It almost sounds like you're playing on a more peaceful form of the Forest of Death.
[Those sports exist in his world, at least.
Also, obstacles in Minato's mind are obviously a lot more dangerous. He's thinking "traps", "giant monsters", and "quicksand", among other things.]

[Minato nods, then grins.] It's not exactly a place you want to take a leisurely stroll in, no. Lots of poisonous, gigantic animals. [His voice lightens a bit, almost sounding amused.] It's actually a training ground.

[Minato shrugs.] Last I heard from my son, it was used as a setting for one of the examinations of the Chuunin exams. ... Which probably means absolutely nothing to you, now that I think of it.
