3 am conversations with the little brother

It's interesting the things you say when you're at your most vulnerable and tired. My little brother said he was proud of me a few minutes ago. I doubt he has any idea how much that meant to me. I think a lot of us, all of us, struggle our entire lives to do something that makes us proud. That makes others proud of us, and that makes us so proud of ourselves that we can be done with struggling to make our life feel complete. If my sweet little brother is proud, then I've done a lot. It is my own standards I must live up to.

We shared a cigarette and I told him I'm proud of him, too, because though he has yet to start things, he has grown into a person full of integrity. I don't need to explain how important that is. He's so smart. I'm so lucky to have a brother so smart. Sometimes it even intimidates me.  He's way smarter than me. I just have better people skills.

Anyway, if no one's said this to you for a while... I am proud of you, and whatever you are doing in your life. If you're doing anything, do it with pride. No point otherwise. I love my little bro. He makes me want to scream pretty things to the world.

I swear I'll go to sleep after this episode of Battlestar Galactica. God, this show is so delicous.
