First Half of 2019 Progress Update

Jun 30, 2019 21:36

Time passes so fast! Six months have just passed and tomorrow is the start of the second half of 2019.  It is a good time to take a progress check on my current status:

i) Insurance: Reviewed my insurance protection and selected term protection with group coverage and also purchased disability income insurance while I am still working full-time. I have to wait for a while before the useless endowment products mature and I can collect the low values back.

ii) Investment: The current percentage of my cash on hand (36%), equities (46%), and risk-free assets - bonds  (18%). It feels good to have some cash on hand even though it is a little on the high side. This is in case so that I can increase the equities or the risk-free assets when needed.  Update for passive cash inflows received from equities and risk-free assets: about $2000+ (exclude endowment policies' cashback).

I am still in progress compared to established personal finance bloggers such as Lady, You Can Be Free (link is here),  createwealth8888 (link is here), ASSI - AK (link is here) whom achieved financial independence with carefully executed strategies.

iii) Health: I am doing my best to sleep latest by 11 pm and be awake before 630 am consistently. So far so good in getting quality rest. For aerobic fitness, I am into Maffetone Method which is effective in tackling three areas - nutrition, exercise, and stress. Please see the infographic at this link here.  Full-time work is also increasingly getting tougher due to longer daily commute and work hours.

iv) Personal commitments: I am still self-studying Japanese language (日本語) with books and multimedia resources. I had stopped from last December and only resumed this month. So, I will have a lot to catch up before I can sign up for the next JLPT exam in this December.

All right, this will be a short update for now and I will also need to prepare for tomorrow's work and be sleeping early soon.
