Nine more Big Finish audios

Two rather routine stories, followed by four very experimental ones and three stories revisiting old Who themes.

Nekromanteia: listened to it some time ago. Five, Peri and Erimem, rather incoherent plot with witches and planetary invasion, nice touch with the cat at the end.

The Dark Flame: felt this worked a bit better. Seven, Ace and Benny and a ( Read more... )

Creatures of Beauty is another of my favourites, very creatively put together, especially the end of Part 1. I tried three times with Flip-Flop and got nowhere; I guess I just needed a beginning and an end.

[Flip-Flop] I guess I just needed a beginning and an end.

Well, it's got two of them! Give it another go. Also I started with the Black disc and then the White one; it might be easier that way round.

I'm sorry. I have no idea what you said after Bill Oddie as the pirate captain! WTF?! COOL!

Not being familiar with the audios (or indeed ever having got into the DW novels), I read "Erimem" as "Eminem" - which gives a whole different impression of what the story could involve!

Nekromanteia was pretty good, but The Dark Flame is one of my favorites. For me, the jury's out on Doctor Who and the Pirates. Creatures of Beauty isn't one of my favorites, but it gets high marks for being cleverly done. Project: Twilight is another one of my favorites, though it does suffer sometimes from a lack of pace. Flip-Flop is clever and a fun listen. Omega wasn't what I thought it'd be, but it had a decent enough payoff for me to rate "enjoyable". Davros was a neat idea, but it got bogged down, I believe, by the writer(s) trying a little too hard to be... thingy(?), and I believe I found Master a little better than you. The end, however, suffered from being too tidy for my liking.
