Over at pepysdiary, Samuel has bought a new slide rule. He spent most of 10 August wandering in and out of the engraver's, watching with fascination as the new plates for the slide rule were being prepared, and on 11 August it was finished for the princely sum of fourteen shillings. Plus, he is all about the miniaturisation - only happy with a sliding rule that's so tiny, the guy who made it can't see to do the engraving!

Is that Pepys diary expurgated? I have been reading it for a couple of weeks now, and he hasn't shagged anyone yet.

His wife came back from her stay in the country about the time he got his slide rule, which constrained his wenching. Having said that, the version at pepysdiary is expurgated, but if you click through to the original page on the website they will usually tell you what the ellipses are covering.
