I'm not entirely convinced about this - for starters, astronauts tend not to be what I would call 'relatively young', with the average age of the most recent NASA selection being around 39 (ranging from 32 to 46). Since most astronauts wait several years for a flight assignment, most active astronauts will be in their forties or fifties.
I'm also unconvinced about the link between education and sexual activity. According to the research cited in this article, there is some correlation between socio-economic group and age of starting sexual activity (the poorer, the earlier) but SEG is not the same as education.
It does sound not unlikely - good education => less inhibtion about rule breaking, more knowledge of bohemian ways. The link sex <=> athleticism well known - viz. very high condom usage rates in Olympic villages :)
