I've read that under a different name, I think - as 'Antrobus Complete', a less catchy title. Or perhaps it was one of the sequels. As you say, it may not be particularly great literature, but parts of it (sometimes the bits which sound most farfetched) ring so true that I laughed all the way through.

I reckon that Antrobus Complete is a combination of the three volumes. I'm interested (but not so surprised) that you in particular found it true to life!

All three of Durrell's diplomatic memoirs are excellent reading. Not only for their humour but also for their beautifully evocative use of English. Every home should have them.
