...if someone were to ask you what extras should be included on the box set of DVD's for this year's Doctor Who, such as "deleted scenes? alternative endings? blooper reel? storyboards? monsters?" - what would you recommend

I'm a big fan of making of documentaries and cast/crew/director commentaries on episodes, especially when the actors are fans rather than just people doing their jobs. The commentary on the Firefly DVDs, especially by Jewel Staite and Alan Tudyk, for instance, is great. I'd say the four different commentary tracks on LOTR went a little overboard, though.
Yep, cast and crew interviews are always good, and deleted scenes. Documentaries about effects. Maybe various drafts of a couple of scripts too, to see how they evolved. And I'd love to see RTD's Who Bible that the writers were talking about at the weekend.
To be perfectly honest, I consider extra's on DVD's a waste or time/money/space. That's why you'll never see me buying a special edition of a film :-) It's not that I'm not interested in the "behind the scenes" bit but I only watch it once and that's it.
I like commentaries but only when delivered by someone with interesting things to say. (The one to the new 'Thomas Crown Affair' was DIRE! where the director, sole commentary offered, says about 3 sentences all told.)
A good blooper reel is a joy to behold. If there are no funny blopers leave it out for the love of Mike.
Good and detailed production details are great and I spent more time watching those parts of the LoTR DVDs than watching the movies themselves. Art galleries and costume sketches leave me cold though.
For this particular DVD I would love to see some background on getting the project up and running and concept development, casting etc. as it is amazing to see how this series has revitalized the old franchise without being a slavish homage.
One of the worst comentators on DVDs is Mel Brooks. He rambles, gets distracted and you can tell he starts watching the movie and forgets he's supposed to be talking.
