I think (although for reasons it has been years since I saw the extended version) the flooding of Orthanc is one of the extended bits. I definitely remember bits that aren't in the theatrical cut.

I don't disagree with you so much on this one as Fellowship, but I do have some thoughts on the effects of Jackson et al doing it this way.
