I simply do not understand why the Lib Dems should go along with Labour in adopting a rather blasé attitude to Johnson's Brexit. For Labour, having been compromised by a Brexit complicit Corbyn the strategy is inevitable. I was correct in predicting that Corbyn would only permit opposition to Brexit once it was effectively too late.
For Layla and Ed to pay lip service to attachment to the EU while coming out with statements such as we have to listen to people, effectively meaning let's lay off the topic they are leaving a void and inviting many newer members to have no reason to renew subscriptions.
I too have succeeded in retaining my European Citizenship and benefit from living in a country run by an avowedly socially liberal government, so there is scope for addressing Liberal activism elsewhere. Figures such as Xavier Bettel and MEP Charles Goerens are impressive.
I think you are right that there will be a difficult challenge for whoever wins. I suspect that whoever wins will soon be the target of extensive criticism.
