I wasn't hugely impressed by this novel of an activist struggling with emotion and revolution in 1980s Namibia. As with Doris Lessing, I found myself not terribly interested in the problems of white people trying to make sense of African society; it feels like it's all about them. Oh god. My book club did this. We all universally and totally hated it. Not only is it self serving rubbish but it's incredibly pretentiously written. Someone is doing a good job selling it I see!
