My recollection of that year's Dr Who stories is that Caves of Androzani is one of the great Dr Who stories, Resurrection of the Daleks, Frontios, and the Awakening are pretty good, and the rest are pretty poor.
Caves of the Androzani was the first Davidson I ever saw when it was repeated on BBC2. Me and the cousins would probably have been 8, 9 and 10 and I remember it really unsettled us, in the good way.
"Caves of Androzani", "Frontios", and quite a way behind, "The Awakening" are the worthwhile ones for me. "Planet of Fire" isn't very good but is about the best that a story with such a ridiculous load of compulsory elements could be.
"Warriors of the Deep" is not quite as bad as "The Twin Dilemma", but it should be shown to any new-school fan who might be tempted to believe the attempts of some deeply misguided people to rehabilitate the continuity-heavy JNT stories in the light of RTD's much more intelligent use of old monsters.
