Pressure cookers are fantastic, and the molecular gastronomy folks have been into them for a while. They take up a pretty huge amount of cupboard space or I'd have one already!

Heston Blumenthal recommends them for stocks in particular - I believe the Fat Duck uses them for that purpose.

The microwave killed off a lot of the usual uses for them. But clearly there's still a case for using them.

Slate magazine obviously doesn't have a Grandma. The damn things never went away. (Although I'm now greatly amused that my Nan is a proto-molecular gastronomist ;) )

One day, the Tory MEPs will just give over and move en masse to UKIP.
