I love Moby too - I did a whole semester just on that one book for my MA (American Studies) in Brussels! It was fantastic, definitely my favourite part of the course. The book is so rich with references and meanings. :D

It's a delightful novel. The many technical details about whaling made it seem like the nearest thing to hard SF.

I remember having the plot of The Scarlet Letter explained to me once, and then being surprised that it was a novel and not a short story.

I think I had better leave the internet now and go finish Moby Dick.
