The Presidential ballot

I've seen a couple of other people post on how and why they are voting in the Lib Dems' presidential election (including one rather amusing locked entry about why the whole lot is going into the recycling bin).

I decided back in July that I was voting for Ros Scott. Her manifesto is blessed with superlative endorsements - Ashdown, Williams, Cable ( Read more... )

I voted the same as you, not that I think my second preference will come into play. I've been very impressed seeing what Ros does in my region, and I still know a few people in Wales who aren't that impressed by Lembit. As for Chandila Fernando, there's way too much marketing speak in his manifesto - if anyone can tell me what 'a solutions based expert in eliminating the causes of trouble' actually means, for instance.

I voted Fernando 2 and Lembit 3 (Ros's first preference was in the bag months ago), and the reason I did so was a) to help stop Lembit and b) I'm not too worried about Fernando's dubious past working for Michael Howard, chiefly because Fernando, unlike Lembit, hasn't a hope in hell of winning.

Had "re-open nomination" been on the ticket a la the good old days of Usenet, I'd have probably put it second behind Ros.

"primary colours, not pastel shades" = supposedly people often claim they don't know what the Lib Dems stand for

"support our leader and never compete with his role" = Lembit is probably the most high profile Lib Dem (he's the one who was dating the Cheeky Girl, right?) so I guess he's talking about himself!

I don't know anything about Lib Dem politics but that's my take!
