You may note that this play differs from the other history plays in an important, and often overlooked respect.

While the earlier plays are donated The History of..., this one is The Tragedy of...

There is a great portrait of Richard III in the Portrait Museum (or whatever it is called) in London. His is the first portrait of someone that looks like an actual person. An actual scary person.

I saw David Troughton actually play the role on stage for the RSC a few years ago, which was a superb production.

I've only seen 2 versions of this, the Olivier version, where I think she's still alive, and the Animated Shakespeare version where she's a ghost and in general, the women at the end are terrifying in the same way MacBeth's witches are. I recommend the Animated Shakespeare if you're ever after a shortened but still somehow including all of it version for your small people.
