A friend's poetry book was published this week, how cool is that?
If you should decide to purchase it, you can go to
Class Action Ink and go to "Contacts"!
I haven't gotten to read the book yet -it should be winding its way towards me as I write- but I have heard some of the poems, and the ones I have heard? Are great. Some are funny, not ha ha funny, but funny as only someone who deeply gets human relationships and can see the humour in them can describe. Some are moving and touch in a profound way. All are beautifully written and evocative but when reading or listening to Susan's work, it's her ability to see the world clearly, poke fun at it, and to make you laugh without ever being the slightest bit mocking that makes the laughter so wonderful.
There is a poem here:
from Even As We Speak . . . by Susan Rawlins BTW. Since I know many of you here, I will say one thing. Quite a few of us will recognize Stan. We're married to our own version of him! :-)
