Star Trek: the new movie

Okay I'm not really a Trekkie, I'm the Avid Gate Head that knows her end of the Scifi-Fandom pretty nicely and enjoys Scifi tv series/ books/ and movies.

But oh God, I want to through myself into the Trek Fandom. It would make me one of 'those' fans yes, but hey the movie was hot. I fully went into the movie theater as I told the nice fanboy next to me that I 'was here for the pretty men and pretty special effects', (Which is true cause I'm a shameless Sylar/Zach Quinto and Shawn-Angel/Simon Pegg fangirl) and 'at least I didn't come in wearing my SG-1 jacket'. I came out of the theater a freshly born Trekkie, of corse I now need dive into the original material but if that means snarky Bones and Spock, and cute Scotty, Zulu and Checkov's, I am okay with that.

So the movie was hot. I mean I really had no connections to the Trek verse aside from seeing one video with the Tribbles, but it made sense and it hit on a lot of the 'in' jokes but made it easy enough to those that weren't fluent in Vulcan; and it made it a verse all of its own.

I would LOVE to see more, aside from the fact that it would take ZQ away from Heroes which would make me a sad fangirl. But at the same time this was set up to be the Prequel to the series, so I don't see it moving any father on its own but stillll....... So I'm torn on that front.

But it was fun all around because it was a friends b-day and the audience was filled with fan boys and girls that said some pretty interesting things during the movie (aka the fanboy next to me said really loudly during a near quiet part of the movie, when a red shirt was about to die, 'oh Fuck Me'; the audience laughed at that)

The trailers were awweeeessooommee. So many movies that I want to see. Mostly Night at the Musemum, Transformers, and GI Joe. Up! and Terminator was kinda eh, wait for DVD.

fandom, squee, movies
