Atticus has hired an entourage to do his errands, so he has more time to preach to his minions.
Atticus was about the only healthy betta at Petco. I suggest you call the store you're going to buy from and ask them what day their betta shipment comes in. Then, get your fish on the same day. Go for the most colorful, active and rage-filled fish you can find - that's a good sign of health.
Also - the life span of a betta is 2-3 years and you really don't know how old they are unless you buy them from a breeder. Don't feel bad if yours doesn't live very long. It probably wasn't you.
P.S. where did you buy Atticus? I am thinking of replacing Simon (finally...he died about three or four years ago, now).
