when did i become a movie critic
The commercials for Hugo were misleading- the movie is not about a magic robot that a boy finds and goes on an adventure with. It's actually based on a book. The movie is also very blue and orange(more like a warm goldish color) which feels a little cheap because it's the easiest/simplest color scheme to use to make something look appealing to the human eye? Also there were some tiny plot points that felt shoved in for funsies; I especially love how the movie goes "HEY lets grind to a halt for thirty seconds and watch this HI-LARIOUS scene play out for no real reason." This happens at least three or four times during it.
it was still a good movie though. I cried. I think artists/creatively inclined folks will appreciate the later plot points a fair amount. At least I did.
