to dog or not to dog?

Last night/ this morning, last year/this year, my Mami made us virgin mimosas. I hated it, actually. We didn't go to a big family gathering like usual, something we haven't done in years. Papi slept through the countdown, and my sisters and I watched The Nanny all the way through.

Anyway, I think I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we were considering getting a dog. My uncle has a litter, and we were going to adopt one, but were having second thoughts about it. Today my Papi said that if we wanted to, we were going to be able to adopt one of my uncle's puppies. However, it will be our responsibility. I'm the eldest, and I and up to the challenge and responsibility of having a dog, but Nene, my seventeen year old sister, is against it. I've got to give her props for putting up mature reasons: she thinks she wants one just to have one, that training and raising a dog is hard. My youngest sister wants one, but I don't think she's up to taking care of it. We're at t a three-way standstill.

Do any of you have a dog or have had one? What are the pros and cons? (Cost isn't an issue. My parents are paying for the shots and all the medical expenses. I would buy food/toys/amenities).

A poll, with "1" being the easiest, "10" being the hardest. Additional comments encouraged.
