Ryan: It's not even been two whole weeks here... and we have 5 months to kill!!! (laughs in his usual sarcastic manner) We were walking back from our first adventure trip together. Remember how I mentioned that was going on a trek? I did, and the place was awesome.
It had ruins about 2000 years old, and we could see the houses the people back then lived in. I tried to look up information about it, but didn't get much except for about the John the Baptist caves. There is a huge impressive water system that dates back to the days of the King of Judah - Hezehiah (726-697 B.C.) and was apparently used for clay production. The remains witness that at the first century AD there were special ritual immersion practices in this underground reservoirs. In the 6th century the cave was adopted by Byzantine monks, who engraved spectacular pictures at the walls of the cave. These pictures depict the course of life and death of John the Baptizer. The cave is situated at the slope of the Tzuba river.
Back to my story, so Ryan is my very good American friend, and for some reason, he takes it upon himself to entertain me... or maybe I entertain him. Well, actually, we both like doing crazy things, and neither of us feel that you need to be high to do crazy things. Let me explain.
One of the nights in the last week, him and I were just walking around the Kibbutz, and I started telling him about the trek with Sammy (Samantha), and how I really wanted to go there on a cloudless night and watch the sky. He simply looked up and said, "How's today?" Yes, my dear friends, I've found my partner in adventure!!! We actually trekked up there at around 2200hrs, without a flash light. We climbed onto a roof of one of the ancient homes, spread out a blanket, and were "star gazing". For a while we pretended to recognise the stars, but soon gave up, and just enjoyed the beauty of what was before us. We even saw 4 shooting stars!!! If you stood up and looked around, you could actually see all of Jerusalem; from the vineyards to the mosques.
Still, the stars are my fav part. I remember saying, "The rest of the world is missing this..."
