I'm in the midst of watching the Scream trilogy. I like revisiting pop artifacts like this when they aren't shrouded in cultural nostalgia.
The second movie feels stronger now than it did nine years ago. It's a dark, pitiless film. In a good way. And at a degree that the original never strives for. But it gets lost in too much flab. I so want to cut 30 minutes from Scream 2. The rushed schedule mostly seems to have affected its editing/pacing. There's really a great 90 minute film within this.
I never liked Scream 3 at all, though I thought the first movie was amazing back in the Christmas of 96.
