i wrote this awhile back ago and thought i would post it on here ... just because
Where to even begin? is the only question to ask. My husband is refusing to come home because he might have come in contact with the world's newest "pleague". I understand his reasoning, for we have a son in pre-k and an infant that doesn't even crawl, yet. I am very lucky to even have a husband that cares enough about me and our children to take such a percaution to protect his family. Infecting Parker County would be awful, since so far we have managed to avoid it. Without my husband I am lonely. And now after a week of not seeing him, I am becoming very moody. So, I am going to complain. If you don't like it feel free to stop reading, once you do start disagreeing with me, because I don't think I care if you have a problem with what I think.
Let's start with the "plague," or is it "H1N1," or is it "swine flu". The world has come into a panic because people are getting a new case of the flu, that has killed people. Don't mind the fact that our normal flu bug kills hundreds every year. Our government says there is no reason to panic and yet our nation's emergency level is a five out of six. Does anyone else feel as if we are not being told the truth, or is it just me? So far the only people who have died are in Mexico. The child that died here in the U.S. came from Mexico to visit famliy. Has anyone else seen the Steven King movie The Stand? Hello, look familiar? I just saw a report on the news about a emergency landing of a plane in Boston, coming from Germany, to remove a woman who had flu-like symptoms. That was a great idea. Let's let the woman sit on the plane for 24 hours, from Germany to America, and then remove her in case she has the "plague" and infects other passengers on the plane. You have to love human intelligence.
Now, how about our government? My biggest complaint with them at the moment is the bail-out plan. Our government has volunteered your pay check and mine to bail out companies who had years and years of money rolling in but didn't manage to save anything for a "rainy day." What tops off my irritation is no one in our goernment, who are making these decissions, are volunteering their own pay checks, just ours. President Obama was elected into office under the pretence of lowering taxes for the middle class, which I am part of, and raising taxes for the upper class. If you have watched the news lately President Obama has decided he will raise everyone's taxes to support these poor, poor, pitiful large companies. With all of this bail-out money going to these large banks and companies. The government seems to have forgotten there are small companies going out of business because of the financial support going to the large businesses,. And the government cannot figure out why the economy is failing. Why has our government not noticed or even thought of bailing out the little companies that are struggling to stay afloat, in stead of the companies that have waisted their income and now we have to support them even more. Have you ever considered the chain that is being linked from this situation? You buy a car (say from GMC), you pay the salesman, the dealership and the actual company for making this car. You buying a car means you have to pay taxes on this car, which is in return going from our government back to GMC because they are not able to manage their finances. And then you have to pay just a little more out of every check you get to give GMC.
I remember arguing with some people over voting for McCain vs. voting for Obama and if I recall correctly, the most common arguement I heard from Obama supporters was the promise of more financial aid for schools. I have heard President Obama has started the financial aid and yet none of the people who argueed this point are getting any of this money because they have too large of an income and now their taxes are being raised. And still these people are waiting for this grant money that isn't comming. Then there is funding set aside for children's schools. If there is money for the state schools, why are all of these teachers getting layed off? Why? Because the money the states are recieving for state schools is actually going to fill the void left in the buget caused by bonuses paid to our state government officials.
