1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Graduated from college. Applied for real jobs. Got a real job. Bought my own car. Paid my own bills without my parents' help. Bought my own Christmas tree. Many, many other things.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Not a big New Year's res person. I honestly don't remember if I made one.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My grandfather

5. What countries did you visit?
England

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A solid plan for my English 10 class that will truly engage my kids :/

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 31. I got my dream job and my grandfather passed away on the same day.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Truthfully, 2009 itself was a pretty big year for me.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Graduating from college without checking off all my "to-do before I graduate" things.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nah.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My car! My 2003 (manual) Pontiac Vibe. Yay!

What?

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and/or depressed?
That's a tough question.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, insurance, taxes, credit cards (all paid off!), MY CAR

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My real job

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Flobots "Handlebars". I'm not sure why that was the first song I thought of, but it was.

a) happier or sadder? Happier
b) thinner or fatter? About the same
c) richer or poorer? Richer, for sure

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spent more time with my Eau Claire friends before I left Eau Claire

Hmmm. Felt sorry for myself.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
In Michigan, as always.

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
No

Zero

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Pushing Daisies, sadly. I love that show and am very sad that there are so few episodes left.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I try not to hate people. I know that sounds lofty and almost arrogant, but I try.

25. What was the best book you read?
I read a bunch of Series of Unfortunate Events books; those were fun.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I joined a choir and sang in public on purpose for the first time in ten years. Does that count?

27. What did you want and get?
A real job where I could teach drama at a high school.

28. What did you want and not get?
There are some little things, but nothing major.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hmmmmm. Iron Man. Though I'm holding out hope for Milk, Revolutionary Road, Slumdog Millionaire and Benjamin Button.

30. What did you do on your birthday?
I don't actually remember. It was a weekday, so I was doing student teaching, but beyond that I don't really remember. Went out to dinner with some people probably.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Immeasurably?

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Trying to dress professionally but still comfortably every day.

33. What kept you sane?
Sleep. And living by myself after my idiot roommate moved out last December.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
I'd say the whole presidential campaign. Oh and also Prop 8, even though I don't live in California.

36. Who did you miss?
I miss my grandfather. Christmas will be strange and hard this year.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
A few of my fellow teachers (the ones I didn't know from before...since I now teach at my old high school)

Budgeting your time can be immeasureably (heh) beneficial.

I don't know. I'm listening to "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" right now so it's hard to think of other lyrics.

Going to a job interview for my ideal job and two hours later getting a call that I'd received it.

Michigan Indiana Illinois Wisconsin Minnesota. Pretty solidly Midwest this year.

Yes

22) Did you miss anybody in the past year?
That's a silly question. Would anybody who's not totally anti-social answer 'No'?

23) What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2008?
See above.

24) What was your favorite song from 2008?
I go through spurts where I love songs then hate them. I did like Viva la Vida though.

Hmmm.

I ... went to a few concerts at school. Like, choir and orchestra. Actually last night I was at my sister's choir concert ... but that's probably not the answer you're going for here.

Eh.

Less than last year, certainly. Actually, for a 23 year old who doesn't specifically not drink, I didn't have too much.

Um. Ibuprofen?

Wouldn't you like to know. Actually, you probably wouldn't.

31) Did you do anything you regretted this year?
Probably.

33) What was the worst lie someone told you in 2008?
Ick, I don't know.

34) Did you treat somebody badly in 2008?
It's a pretty good possiblity, I suppose. I hope not too badly.

35) Did somebody treat you badly in 2008?
Seems likely.

36) How much money did you spend in 2008?
Hmm. I bought a car and pay my own rent/utilities/other expenses, so I'd say a fair amount. But not really on excessive stuff.

37) What was your proudest moment of 2008?
It's a little thing, but I had a student tell me she really liked the way I taught and that she got a lot out of my lessons. That really meant a lot to me.

38) What was your most embarrassing moment of 2008?
Oh, I'm sure there's something. Meh.

39) If you could go back in time to any moment of 2008 and change something, what would it be?
About my year and my life? I'm not actually sure.

40) What are your plans for 2009?
Hopefully keep my job even with the economy in crisis and budget cuts ahoy.
