Started out with a BANG. Literally. Woke up at the unholy hour of 8:30am. Not super happy about that, but I guess that's what happens. Woke up to Lightning and Thunder......2 HOUSES AWAY! Needless to say that I ran scared into the living room as soon as I saw it hit down. Frightened and awestruck at all the same time. Interesting alarm clock, but I suppose it did the trick, so whatever.
Accompanied my parents to Lowe's to buy some small concrete retaining wall blocks. Evidently they have some plan for them, I don't really understand. Went because I was supremely bored though, really just wanted to get out of the house. Wacthed as they loaded them from the store to a cart, from the cart to our car, and from the car to the side of our house. Attempted to help a little bit although I mostly just felt like I was in the way and my dad kept telling me that they were "heavy" and I should "just let them do it". Who am I to argue? :o) Fun times all around. The car was massively sagging in the back on account of the 20lb concrete pieces, we actually had to make 2 trips to get them all home......
Decided around 2:45ish that I was going to take a nap. Long day + waking up at 8:30am + not really doing a lot all day = very tried Megan. Basically I made an executive decision, NAP TIME. Half an hour later I got a text message from Mike who wanted to take a walk. How can I turn that down?? So I put my nap on hold and embarked on a "deer adventure". We walked through some random person's filbert orchard in attempts to see some really cool deer. Unfortunately it was the middle of the day and WAY too hot for the deer to be hanging out where we could see them, but the walk was fun anyways. Good talks with MIkey, although I'm not entirely sure why he was feeling so awkward concerning the conversation......I like to think the best of you kiddo, you shouldn't worry so much..... Then MIke and Justin were off to P-town for 4th of July festivities.
Had dinner with the family and then we all piled in the car and drove down to the riverfront. How much I just LOVE having to walk through crowds of people who are in no hurry whatsoever. Basically it's my favorite thing EVER. Not. Anyways, not all bad. Had a nice talk with Brad and found out that in fact he HAD been mad at me......sheesh......but fortunately we work through things pretty fast and I think we're back to normal again which is fantastic. Spent a little time with the fam, dad taught me how to play cribbage (a strange little peg board game involving a deck of cards.....), ran into some of Brad's HS friends, and sat around and waited for the fireworks to start. Unfortunately there was no ice thrown or curse words being exchanged this year, only small children sitting next to me who thought it would be REALLY fun to shout out the color of every firework.......cute for the first 20 minutes and then not so cute anymore. The funniest part was when one of the shouting children started having a coughing fit because of all the yelling......he was alright so I didn't feel bad laughing about it. Not bad fireworks, good view, all in all not complaining.
On the walk back to the car from the riverfront, obviously feeling like herded cattle, I somehow lost my cell phone. We got to the car when I realized it, I freaked out (obviously) and my parents parked the car and we headed back to search for the dumb thing (okay, well I guess it's not that dumb since I use it ALL the time.....). DID feel like an idiot though.....I hate when stuff like that happens, everyones always willing to help, but I always just feel bad because it was my own stupid error. Brad called the phone about a million times so that we would hear it ring. Lucky us we found it exactly where I thought I had lost it: in the center median between front street where we had crossed in the bushes and I had been hopping/running through because the sprinklers were on. We were searching around and I heard it ring. HALLELUJAH! Problem solved.....
Basically it was a highly entertaining day, unlike most of my days unfortunately. Today I'm off to drop off some job applications and again attempt to look for a job. REALLY looking forward to it.....obviously.
