Teaching

Teaching is hard enough on its own, but when you have students that are neglected or mistreated at home, it is just that much harder.

We have a kid who throws horrific tantrums. Every time he gets in any kind of trouble he freaks, screams, cries, kicks, hits, and he's just 6 years old. But it goes way beyond the normal 6 year old tantrum. He even kicked the principal and the ISS teacher.

Then I saw this mark on his face and asked someone what it was. The person (who is the counselor) told me that his mother's boyfriend beat him with an extension cord and that there are marks all over his back as well.

Don't know what to say. There really isn't anything a six year old could do to deserve a beating like that. I don't believe in spanking, but I suppose people have the right if it's how they choose to do things. But whipping with an extension cord is not the same as spanking. Whipping with an extension cord is straight up abuse.

I was going to post some kind of rant about this but it's just too sad. What can I really say anyway? It sucks.
