Babbigail had a homework assignment over half-term which involved making a sundial and drawing the shadows it cast every hour of daylight for a day.
Then she had to repeat it.
Now, this task assumed that over a two-week half-term she would have two sunny days when a parent could help her do this task in the garden or something.
Perhaps for the children who spent half-term in Spain or Cornwall this was straightforward, and perhaps for the children who stayed at home with stay-at-home parents it was easy. Babbigail, however, spent the first week of half-term with a child minder and the second week of half-term in the Lubyanka under Admiralty Arch in the Whitehall Playscheme. Saturday mornings in the Synagogue, and both weekends were rainy anyway!
So Babbigail's other parent writes the teacher explaining why she hadn't done her science homework, and Babs gets in shtook because the teacher doesn't want to get excuses from parents.
How unjust!
