smiley_kiley. Thanks. No, really. ;-)

You all know the drill by now - so here be my 7 things:

1)      As a child I hated playing outside. If it was up to me I would have been happy to stay in my room reading books, or playing board games by myself (I would play all 4 sides as different players). But my mother forced me to go outdoors.

2)      Which resulted in one of the two times I required stitches. I was running around barefoot (as we tended to do in my neighborhood in Ft. Lauderdale in those days), and all the kids were playing in the field across the street. So I headed over as well. And cut the side of my foot on a piece of glass. Blood everywhere. One of the older boys carried me home. The doctor said another inch in either direction and I would have severed a tendon.

3)      To completely prove my utter lack of athleticism as a child, I had to get the second set of stitches…I was playing softball in gym class (never a good start for me back then), in our requisite shorts and tshirt. I was in the far right field (fewer balls to get since almost no one hit left-handed). The grass was still wet with dew. I was standing there just minding my own business when this round thing covered in leather came flying my way. Now, I knew what damage they could do, and I knew that if I tried to catch it I would probably end up with a broken nose or something far more horrific. So I ran back, let the ball fall (acting as though I tried to catch it), and ran after it. As I ran I slipped on the grass, but I was able to get back up, grab the ball and throw it in. I reached back to wipe the wet grass of my butt, pulled my hand back and there it was. Blood. But no pain. I was confused at first. Then I saw the looks on the faces on my classmates. Yup, the blood was definitely mine. I ended up with about 25 stitches. After I left the class searched the field and found an old metal pipe sticking out of the ground.

4)      I’ve been a vegetarian/pescatarian for just over 15 years.

5)      I’ve lived in SF longer than any other city in my entire life. This September it will be 18 years. At this point I feel like I’m basically a native.

6)      I’m a night-owl. If it wasn’t for school and work, I would be up to 1 or 2am every night, watching TV, reading, surfing, whatever.

7)      I’ve always been a good student (yes, a teacher’s pet as well). In sixth grade I was named the Best Male Student - I even got a large trophy for it. In seventh and eighth grade I got more academic awards and trophies. I guess I collected them like some boys collected sports trophies. Geek? Me? Oh yeah.

8)      And one more for extra measure: I was both a Boy Scout (Life Scout) and an altar boy - and at the same time no less. That should explain a lot about me. J

Tag more? Nah - I think I’m one of the last to post this.  But if you’re out there and want to share, go ahead and blame it on me if ya like.
