This is my list of TV on DVD that i collect:

M*A*S*H - Need i say more than it is just a fabulously well written, well acted, well put together show - that was spawned from a movie about the Korean War. It ran 11 seasons, the finale was the most watched tv show ever in the history of TV - getting something like 70% in the Nielson ratings. The characters are real, and they don't lose their charm or their ability to be interesting as the show goes on. The story lines shift from a slap stick comedic effect in the early years, to a more dramatic emotional show by the later years...reflecting the characters feelings about the war - at first they have to joke to stay alive in the hell they are living in...and eventually they just get tired and worn out and emotional and want to go home. Fabulous show...that can make you laugh and cry in the same half hour episode...and the first one i started collecting.

ER - The medical drama of the 90's that is (unfortunaely) still on the TV as we speak. I think this is year 12 of this show, and while i admit that the show has defintely lost something over the past few years...and really should have ended after season 9 or 10 until that point it was one of the most innovative, fast moving, medically accurate dramas ever on TV. They took a risk in not explaining things, for example the fast moving trauma scenes in season one where they talk about gsw,s, hanging o neg on the rapid infuser, trach em, thoracotamy tray - means nothing to the viewer with no medical background. But the pace and the characters were captivating...it was something new and different - and it just blew everyone away. The characters are complex and plentiful - but not so many that you lose track of them - and again until recently...any time they lost a main character they replaced them so flawlessly with an equally good character that the show never lost appeal. Overall it is just a great show - that was not expected to get past the pilot.

Gilmore Girls - My newest collectible. I started watching this show less than a year ago and fell in love with Lorelai and Rory, and their witty banter. I love Stars Hollow and often think i would love to live in such a cute small little town myself. The show just cracks me up - and again it is innovative in the sense that there has never before been a show that has focused so intently on a mother daughter relationship. I admit the trials and tribulations these girls face are sometimes kind of comical in the wtf that doesn't happen kind of way - but a lot of them are real and regardless i feel it is a well written well acted show. Their scripts are pages and pages longer than your average 1h drama due to the pace at which they speak...yet the show always turns out well in the end.

Colin also collects CSI and family guy...for the obvious reasons that family guy is fucking hilarious, and csi is just an all around awesome show. But the three above are my main collectibles. I would also potentially like to collect the golden girls lol - again because it is a different type of show...4 old women to be exact...and very very funny...plus it was on mainly in the 80's...and so far i have a show from the 70's (MASH), 90's (ER), and 2000's (Gilmore Girls). Hmmm maybe i will start collecting it:)
