“You gonna tell me what you’re grumpy over today, Bones?” Jim asked, sliding another drink her way.
Lena scowled verbosely, but took the drink. “Not any grumpier than usual, I’m sure.” Judging by his snort, Jim didn’t quite believe her, but that was alright. She wasn’t paying much attention to him, anyway. Sure, she wasn’t staring openly at the group of crewmembers including Gabriella, but her mind was occupied with the way the younger woman had looked at her to make her feel wanted, to show she wanted to be wanted. With her kisses, her smile, those beautiful noises she made as Lena tasted her...
“Captain,” a polite voice came from behind her, a greeting, clearly. There was a pause before, “Doctor McCoy,” was added.
As Jim and Lena both turned, they both answered, emotions clearly different. “Hey, Gabriella!” was cheery, while the doctor’s curt “Gray” of acknowledgement was awkward at best.
Gabriella babbled something that made Jim and the guy she was with laugh, though Lena wasn’t really tuned in, and more attentive on trying not to stare at her and her lips than much of anything else. As she left, Lena and Jim both turns back to the bar and Jim offered a “wow, you’re really having a bad day.”
“Try bad life, kid.” Her eyes flicked then to Gabriella and the other leaving. If he noticed, Jim mercifully didn’t say anything.
Damnit, Lena was jealous. And didn’t have the first clue as to how to go about doing anything about it.
