Flawless
He always prided himself on his ability to come up with fool-proof and perfect plans. Getting millions of dollars from a corrupt company? Simple, with a few 'friendly' deals and a bit of blatant lying. Blackmailing crooked businessmen for their weight in thousands? Oh easy, with a call about a certain 'female entertainer' and pictures to match.
That's why he knew this plan was utterly flawless.
Getting one Kanzaki Nao into a private room where he would talk his way into her bed? So effortless he was almost disappointed. Almost.
As a man who quite proud of his intelligence and self-control, the fact that he was debasing himself for such a primitive urge did not quite sit right with him. And though he’d sooner eat ground glass, he couldn’t deny that he was a little guilty for dragging her into it. Yet the thought of going through the tedious process of wooing one of the other Liar Game contestants, who were as annoying, if not more than Kanzaki, or even going as far as to call a prostitute gave him a vicious headache and made his stomach do funny things. He would never say it to anyone, let alone to her, but if he had to, he’d rather be with her than someone else.
But of course, this was beside the point.
She looked at him with worry etched across her features, hands clasped together in that pleading manner that made him want to tear her apart and give her everything she wanted at the same time. “Mr. Akiyama, what will we do?” she panicked, eyes wide with fright, “I thought about it every which way I could and I just don’t see how we’re going to win!”
This could be his chance. “Come on, come with me, I have a plan,” he told her, motioning for her to follow him back to his room. This was perfect; he could easily quell her worries about the game by informing her of his plan. After that, she’d be much more relaxed and willing to listen as he cleverly talked his way into what he wanted; her, on a bed, sans clothes. Nothing could interfere, with the distance between the other players and themselves, along with the privacy of the rooms supplied by the Game. This was his golden opportunity.
“Mr. Akiyama, do you really have plan?” she murmured as she sat on the edge of the mattress, biting nervously on her thumb. Perfect, now he didn’t have to worry about getting her onto the bed.
“Tell me, what does winning mean to you?” he inquired, languidly leaning back in his chair, crossing his legs. He resisted the urge to pull out a cigarette, since the smoke seemed to bother her and that would ruin the atmosphere he was trying to build.
“Well,” she mused, putting a hand to her chin, “winning this game and getting the two billion I suppose…”
“What if I said I could assure you forty million?”
“Well,” she said quietly, going into thought, “that would be more than enough. As long as I can drop out, I don’t care if I make a single yen.”
This was going even more smoothly than he anticipated. Sometimes perfectly executed plans were far too boring. “With the plan I have, a billion or even a hundred million would be impossible, but around forty million per person is possible.”
“Really?!” she exclaimed in surprise, “What kind of plan do you have?”
He explained it to her, the idea of a team of eight separating to control the vote. She listened eagerly, occasionally asking questions and taking all the information in with a smile slowly spreading across her face.
“But, don’t forget, we still have to be concerned,” he warned her, shifting his position to lean on his knees. He didn’t want to worry her, but it was better to get everything out on the open and quench all her fears before moving along with his strategy. “Remember, one of the members has a check of one million; Mr. X.”
“You’re right!” she cried, putting a hand to her lips in sudden realization. “We have to be careful!”
“Right,” he nodded, “Now, what we need to do is find a fool proof way of making a team without letting in Mr. X.” He was about to add ‘But we can do that later because frankly, I have something else I’d rather discuss,’ but Kanzaki suddenly make a noise of excitement, jumping from the bed. “What are you-”
“I have an idea!” she grinned, hitting her fist onto her open palm. Before he could ask her what she could have possibly come up with in a few moments, she was racing for the door, calling to him over her shoulder. “I’ll be right back!” she promised, waving a bit as she clicked the door shut.
He started at the spot where she had disappeared behind the heavy oaken door, eyes wide and jaw slack in disbelief.
God damn it.
