OK, I'm tucking into a Magnum as I write this. What I am wondering is, will I be happier if I spent a bit of my savings on a few items:
A digital SLR
An iPod
If you had asked me a few years ago what I enjoyed doing the most, I would not have hesitated to say that I enjoyed photography, music, food and good company. I was lucky because I had more than my fair share of these things at the time. I soon added 'women' to the list, though I know I will always have less control over that aspect.
As an aside, men have always cited wine, women and song as their main interests. But what to women cite? Wine, men and song? Whining, men and shopping?
I rarely take pictures these days and how I miss it. I've lost interest in film, though. It's just too expensive, I always run out and it takes weeks to get the pictures back.
I rarely listen to music except while driving. I have no stereo in my room and I am loathe to get one because it could become a burden later. I don't want possessions that need to be transported.
If I had the SLR, I would be keen to go out and photograph things. I would seek out opportunities.
If I had an iPod, I would generally be happier because the beat would be back in my life and I could dance to its tune.
Right, let's do it. Now to start researching options...
