So... I subscribe to
BookBub. It's a handy daily email that notifies me when ebooks in my picked genres/from picked authors are available for free or sale prices, from Amazon as well as other sites. I've found some fun things, and definitely bought sequels in some cases.
But the descriptions on some can be kind of silly/cringeworthy/mockworthy depending on your taste and cynicism. I don't like the "cozy" genre but I tend to get at least one notification of that type. The names of these heroines! It's not something I set out to mock, but I really quickly figured out the pattern. They're usually unspeakably twee, and ultra-modern* to boot.
* When you think about it, modern trendy names are totally inappropriate for a modern-day fictional character, unless that character is the age of a toddler. I know a lot of Laurens, but are those equally represented in fiction as they are in the population? But it's also circular, because fictional names can influence what actual parents name their babies. If only writers were responsible with that power...
ANYWAY. This example is not from a cozy. (Nor from a fantasy of any kind.) It seems to be a thriller, categorized under Action and Adventure.
"Former FBI agent Xanadu Marx."
Xanadu. Marx.
