Hi, everyone! I would really love to sell this mid/late 1770s style wig to one of you. I LOVE the shape and the effect; it really came out wonderfully. It's big, but really doesn't feel that big. (Except when driving...)
The one problem is that I am not a blonde, and it is a nightmare to try to blend my hairline into this. I would much rather make another wig in my actual color. But this is a gorgeous wig and I'd love it if one of my LJ friends can use it.

hiraimi - did I miss anyone? And of course other hair colors, if you want to use the front hairline as it is, or if you're better at blending! Or people going to the Francaise dinner - I know a LOT of people are going this year. :D
In these pictures the backward tilt is significant. This is TOTALLY due to the weird shape of my head. In actuality it's a very nice tilt, similar to Miss Nettlethorpe/Eurydice from
demode's book, when on the wig stand or a more normal head. (It was rather disorienting when I was making it.)
You can see the gray hair at the temples where we used a LOT of white hair color spray on my own hair.
The gray is more visible here, around my forehead. The back has two buckles that are a bit too far back, a couple of twisted loops, and a hanging loop chignon with a bow on it. I'd like to keep that exact bow, because it's the same as the ribbon on the dress.
The "buckles" (curls of hair) are just pinned in and can be moved easily. I'm also throwing in an unopened package of Kanekalon braid hair that more buckles can be made from.
I have to blow my own horn a bit - I think this is a really good wig. It's not hard to wear or that heavy, even on me with that big tilt. I have wig clips sewn inside, and with just a few extra pins it's very secure and comfortable. It's also very stable. I did some pretty energetic dancing and it never budged, either on my head or its own structure.
The wig itself I powdered with white baby powder. A bit too much powder - those of you at CoCo may remember my shedding onto my dress. It all wiped off the dress easily with a dry towel. Also, before I wore it on Halloween, I shook the wig pretty good (It IS very sturdy!) and nearly all the excess sifted out. So I hope that's not an issue.
Price - um, say $80 + shipping? Make me an offer! I would really love an LJ friend to have it! And since I'm going to make a new one, this one simply isn't going to be worn any more. That's enough to cover cost of supplies that were actually used up for the wig, and a smidge more for labor. But really, make me an offer. I'm also potentially open to a swap, although I'm picky on what I accumulate these days. ;)
