I had started to write a historical novel some time ago... never finished it, though, but always changed and amended and revised it. And got stuck again and again. All of that in German, though, my mother language.
Lately I have reconsidered and decided a complete make-over... and as I have meanwhile gotten so accustomed to write (fan-)fiction in English and being commented and everything...
Well, I have just boldly decided to draft the new version in here, as a WIP - and in English. Maybe it will even work... ;-)
It is called "Alena's Way".

Now, what is it all about...? Let's see...
Alena is a woman in the second half of her twenties, intelligent, accomplished, witty and much too independent minded considering the century she's living in, which is the eve of 19th century.
She is also a gifted paintress but has, in parts due to a slight physical disability, chosen a rather secluded existence as a governess on a country estate - until her life is to change once more and all over again and she leaves the quiet countryside in order to join her twin brother in the city.
While her brother, a rising star within the world of science, is hoping to profit from their cohabitation in ways of a stabilisation of his social status, Alena is determined to follow her own star and - against the odds - become a professional and acclaimed artist. So, brother and sister become allies in order to help each other finding their own way...

No, THIS time it's NO Sherlock Holmes story... :-)
A few issues of the plot may be: arts, sciences, disabilities, society, gender questions/feminism, love, social questions...
What do you think? Coming along?
