I'm still here!

It's been a busy time for me lately.  Camp is getting real busy and will stay so until August.  My night clerk got promoted, so I'm training her replacement this week.  The new girl is real good, thank goodness!

Hubby and I have spent the last week putting in the gardens.   We had such good luck with petunias last year that we went with them again this year in the front borders.  I also finally planted the gardenia and hydrangia I always have wanted.  The vegetable garden went in too.  This year (hopefully) will yield corn (two varieties), green beans, butter peas, purple hulled peas,5 varieties of tomatoes, 4 varieties of peppers, cucumbers, strawberries (summer bearing), and blue berries.  Earlier this spring we planted two new apple trees, two Asian pear trees and two plum trees.  If it all goes well, we and the in-laws will have plenty of good eats!

The birds have also come for the summer and our full feeders.  We have loads of beautiful, colorful birds that call our property home.  The owl has been greeting me as I return home from play rehearsal every evening.  I think he really enjoys scaring me to death as he swoops low in front of my windshield as I come up the drive.  The red hawk is back this year, nesting in the oak tree right off the back door.  the yellow finches and blue buntings have got their summer colors and look gorgeous sharing the feeder with the bright red cardinals.

The cat particularly enjoys the back feeder.  He really thinks if he sits under it, the birds won't notice and they'll fly into his mouth.  I call this photo 'Optimistic Cisco'.  Needless to say, the birds have his number and he's stuck with Iams.
